My Experience as a Photographer

Although my business officially launched in 2023, my journey in photography began long before that. I began studying photography at the age of 13 during my GCSEs and continued to A-levels, where I further developed my technical skills and creative eye. After finishing my A-levels, I took a gap year working within the industry for a school photography company, H Tempest, covering the Yorkshire region. I specialised in early years photography but also worked across primary and secondary schools, capturing school portraits, giving me extensive experience working with children and families.

I later moved into a marketing role but quickly realised my passion lay firmly within photography. Wanting to deepen my knowledge and skills, I decided to pursue a degree in Moving Image Media and Photography through the University of Hull, based at Rotherham University Centre. I loved the course and learned an incredible amount, and it was during my first year that I decided to launch my own photography business.

Alongside my studies, I decided to volunteer and work with industry professionals and charities. I had the privilege of working with Retina UK, where I captured events featuring celebrities from Love Island, as well as singers and actors. I also worked closely with the incredible charity Roundabout, producing high-quality visuals for major events including the Sheffield 10K, the Half Marathon, and the Yorkshire Chocolate Festival. During my second year, I volunteered to create a powerful promotional video for Roundabout, sharing the stories of homeless young people and helping raise awareness of the charity’s vital work,  a project I found incredibly meaningful.

Alongside this, I gained experience in television industry at ITV. I also, appeared on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio Sheffield to speak about my business. I also organised two styled shoots for networking and creative collaboration, completed my degree with First Class Honours, and continued to grow my business.

Since graduating last year, I’ve photographed 56 photography sessions and delivered over 28,000 images to clients. I’ve also completed the Enterprise Programme with The King’s Trust, meaning my business is proudly supported by the trust.
